A new partnership has been formed, with the hopes of growing soccer in Franklin County. Roanoke Star Soccer Club and Franklin County Parks and Recreation are partnering together to create a higher level of competition for the athletes looking to play at the next level in Franklin County. Franklin County Star or FC Star will be a registered program through Franklin County Parks and Recreation, that will be fully ran and operated through Roanoke Star.
Added benefits to this partnership are Free Players and Coaches Clinics during the Fall and Spring seasons for all Franklin County recreational participants. Players will have the opportunity to be coached by the highly licensed coaching staff at Roanoke Star. There will also be a Youth Academy formed (Ages 7-9 years old), for players looking to transition to travel soccer in the upcoming years. All programs will be aimed to help with the development of the player’s technical foundation, increasing the overall quality of player.
“The quality of athlete coming out of Franklin County is very strong, and we are hoping to help with the soccer development in order to help those looking to play at the next level.” Chris McClellan, Director of Coaching and Player Development at Roanoke Star Soccer Club.
Tryouts will be held in May for FC Star teams, with practices and games beginning in August. Youth Academy will begin in September.
